CSS Sales Strategy Meet 2016

planningEach year, CSS Group gathers for its annual CSS Sales Strategy Meet whereby the management teams from all of its global offices get together for two days for divisional meetings, presentations, case studies, team building activities and an overall review of the current and next year’s strategies. The Sales strategy meet will be held in Dubai this year

The theme for this year’s strategy meet is “Planning, Precision & Performance” which was chosen as it reflects the need of the hour when the entire logistics industry is facing hard challenges in its path of growth. The theme was decided by an in-house competition, whereby all staff was requested to provide theme’s for this year’s strategy meet. “Planning, Precision & Performance” was suggested by Ms. Steffin John who works as the Sales Executive in Dubai.

Over the years, the management has been fortunate enough to organize the Strategy Meets in various countries across continents. From the sandy beaches of Goa, India, to the picturesque Arabian Sea and gulf countries on a cruise liner, to the serene and tranquil environment of Sri Lanka, and obviously in the God’s own country, Kerala. After many years, the Strategy Meet is being conducted in Dubai itself on the 18th and 19th of November 2016. The logo for this year’s Strategy Meet has been selected and released by the Senior Management.

CSS Group Sales Strategy Meet 2015

CSS sales strategy meet this time was truly Innovative & Inspiring, doing justice to the theme they adopted. This year it was decided by the senior Management and the Chairman of CSS group, to conduct the Sales Strategy meet, a much awaited official meeting amongst the Sales teams of CSS, in the UAE region itself. And hence, CSS Marketing & Corporate communications ventured into the luxurious spaces of the Hilton Al Hamra beach & golf resort at Ras Al Khaimah. The dates chosen were the 20th & 21st of November 2015.

“Innovate & Inspire” being this year’s theme, the main focus of discussion apart from the budget presentations were, the looming market situations and the much feared recession. The Political uncertainty was another concern everyone shared. Brain storming discussions were held for strategizing new ways in exploring the untapped areas, overcoming threats and to achieve company goals for the next year.

The meeting commenced with the announcement which declared the top 10 sales performers of the year 2015. This invited a good round of cheer and applause amongst the participants. Chairman’s message clearly reiterated the need for innovative minds to sail through the bad currents and to achieve goals. This was followed by the budget presentations by the Sales managers and unit heads. CSS Kingston was the latest entrant to the group in this year’s Strategy Meet. Last year’s performance was reviewed and the projections were thoroughly analysed throughout the session. The growth of online markets was a topic of discussion during the concluding session. Even though the market situations are not that much promising, the CSS achievement during the last year and the programmes designed for the New Year gives a clear signal of growth for the overall performance of the company.

Mentioning about the prospective regions for the company like Doha, Muscat etc drew attention from all those who have participated. Day one concluded with the grand dinner and entertainment programmes which included a DJ bash.

FPS AGM at Jakarta

CSS Group representatives attended the recently concluded FPS AGM and conference at Jakarta.
The CSS Group was represented by Siby Kurian, Senior GM, Sales & Marketing and Thomas Mathew, Manager Pricing and Key Information Department, CSS Dubai, Jairam KR, Director, CSS India, Narayan R T, General Manager, CSS Bahrain and Dean Landers, General Manager, CSS Kuwait.
FPS Group – one of the largest and longest-established forwarding groups in the world – is to change its constitution to allow multiple memberships in each territory. The decision was reached at this year’s AGM and Conference, which took place in Jakarta, Indonesia, and was attended by representatives of the network’s global membership.
Advisory Board Chairman Sam Aparo, co-owner of one of the network’s founding members, told delegates that the original FPS Group policy of one member per country was no longer the best model. Although it had been very successful since its launch in 1998, “The strength we once had is now our weakness,” he said.
“If we have multiple members in each market, it means we all have multiple choices. It’s not just more members, it’s also about quality and additional opportunities. We should not be afraid of competition,” he continued.
“Networking at the FPS AGM and conference always provides an opportunity to meet new members from some of the geographical regions where we do think about exploring in the near future and hence CSS finds it very fruitful to be at this gathering” commented Siby Kurian.
FPS will also embark on an aggressive expansion programme in 2016, to fill gaps in its existing geographic coverage. Speaking after the conference, Sam Aparo added: “2016 is the year of expansion for our network. We have a tremendous and unrivalled asset in the quality, size, reputation and business base of FPS Group. New members will immediately benefit from this, as well as opening up new opportunities for the whole group.”
Aparo added that there had never been a better time for agents to join a quality network, enabling them to counteract falling margins with increased reciprocal sales and more professional marketing. “There is strength in numbers; both more effective marketing, and the opportunity to share its costs over a larger number of participants.”
“In a very uncertain global economic scenario we face, it’s extremely important to have regular overhauling of your contacts to keep the business lively and aggressive. CSS India has always utilised the opportunity of interacting at the FPS, from day one onwards and we have found it very useful” mentioned Jairam K R.

An  Excellent  Team  Work

This successful journey has been built on the trust and confidence of our agents, valuable clients, other associates and most importantly our management and staff.

The strategy of CSS India is teamwork which leads to achieve greater heights with continuing enthusiastic efforts. This journey was filled with challenges which seemed impossible at certain times but with continuous and focused efforts we could achieve targets and our organizational goals.

We as a team of young qualified professionals have put in our hard work in reaching a landmark achievement. This has earned us reputation as a service provider amongst the trade with expertise in consolidation and logistics solutions which attracts most of the major shipping lines, forwarders, NVOCC and custom agents to have trust in us. The guidance and leadership shown by our senior management team is truly remarkable and always helped us, sharpen our focus and enabled us to be more targeted toward our goals. Going forward, we would request our customers, vendors & partners to continue patronizing this organization and support us in executing our vision.

Professionalism  &  Commitment

CSS India went through its troughs and waves and here we are, completing 8 years of learning and growth, inspite of the challenging scenario on profitability due to the deteriorating macro trade in the logistics business.

However the key reasons of passing through and looking firm are:

  • We could unlearn faster
  • For us, reality was more important than perception of reality
  • We chose to leave behind legacy issues of the trade
  • We competed only with ourselves
  • We offered complete transparency to our clients – straightforward and real feedback – sugar was never on our menu. Clients respected that in the long term.
  • Organization culture was of complete cohesiveness
  • Though they sound clichéd, Professionalism and Integrity are the pillars of our existence

Travel and Leisure names Kerala as “One of the 100 great trips for the 21st century” In 2012, it overtook Taj Mahal to be the number one travel destination in Google’s search trends for India. Strategy Is A Commodity & Execution Is An Art

In economics, a commodity is the generic term for any marketable item produced to satisfy wants or needs. Therefore how can strategy, an intangible object be considered a commodity?

In today’s market a company’s strategy is equivalent to a trade secret that gives companies an edge over its other competitors. But unlike tangible commodities that just require to be sold in order to define its success, a company’s strategy has to be carefully thought through and executed to ensure that the end result is a successful one.

It cannot be recalled, fixed, nor refunded, for this reason senior management can spend months or often a year to define the strategy of its company going forward. The execution of said strategy is as important as its developments, because it is the execution and its results that will serve as the company’s success story.

CSS proudly concluded its Annual Sales Strategy Meet 2012 at the prestigious Amethyst Resort in Passikudah, Sri Lanka. Amethyst Resort is the first property built, owned and operated by Amethyst Leisure (Pvt) Limited, whose journey began in 2011 with the laying of the first foundation for Amethyst Resort in Passikudah, Sri Lanka. With a core purpose of analyzing market trends, and business prospects, the sales meet gives an accurate platform for the different departments to discuss and share valuable business viewpoints, which helps in the future development of the company. CSS Sales Strategy Meet

Each year, CSS Group gathers for its annual CSS Sales Strategy Meet whereby the management teams from all of its global offices get together for a few days of corporate meetings, presentations, case studies, team building activities and an overall review of the current and next years strategies.

Over the years, the management has been fortunate enough to attend the Strategy Meet’s in various countries, reaching there by sea, air and land!

From the sandy beaches of Goa, India, to the vast Arabian Sea and gulf countries on a cruise liner, to the serene and tranquil environment of Sri Lanka, and the architectural paradise of Dubai, this year our travel takes us to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Scheduled for December 2011, CSS Bahrain will be hosting the CSS Group Sales Strategy Meet while offering its first class Arab hospitality for all of the attendees.

Strategecially located, Bahrain is a small island west of the Arabian Peninsula which is  in close proximity to Saudi Arabia to its west and Qatar, to its southwest. Meaning “two seas” in Arabic, Bahrain is unique because it is an archipelago of 33 islands with Bahrain Island being the largest.
