CSS Group Attends Breakbulk Antwerp 2012

UBM Global Trade’s 7th Annual Breakbulk Europe Transportation Conference and Exhibition will take place May 22nd -24th at the Antwerp Expo in Belgium and will address anticipated industry growth from emerging markets. The program features two days of panel and keynote discussions and as well as workshops and networking events within the heavy-lift and breakbulk transportation sector.

CSS Group will have a strong presence at the Breakbulk Exhibition led by a delegation from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and India.

From CSS Dubai, Raj George, Senior Vice President-Ocean Freight, Siby Kurian, General Manager Sales & Marketing, Amith Horra, Marketing Manager and Deepu S Dev, Marketing coordinator will be in attendance.

From CSS Bahrain, Narayan Tagore, General Manager and from CSS India, Prabhakar Maniyan, Vice President-Projects will be representing their respective regions during the exhibition.

Highlights from the recently released agenda include discussions of technology issues for the industry, the growing complexity of risks and liabilities in cargo moves and the influence of other shipping sectors on the breakbulk market. In addition, the topic of so-called “giga-projects,” which are creating new challenges amid rising energy demand, will be explored in depth.

Breakbulk Americas Sets New Orleans Attendance Record

The 22nd Annual Breakbulk Americas Transportation Conference and Exhibition set a new record for New Orleans attendance recently with a strong turnout of 3,342 attendees and 238 exhibitors. The event was held from October 24-27, 2011 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

CSS Group was well represented during the exhibition, led by Ken Dinnadge, VP Business Development, Sreenath V, General Manager CSS Projects, Oil & Energy, Roshmon Manoli, Route Development Manager, North America, Amith Horra, Marketing Manager, and Chandrakala(CK) Asst. Manager, NVOCC Operations. From IFS Doha, Oliver Hahn, Regional Manager was also in attendance.

The conference program showcased industry leaders and noted analysts during four days of education sessions and conference panel discussions, which addressed the project cargo market outlook, carrier solvency, new Incoterms, modularization trends and controlling contract costs, among other issues facing the Breakbulk and heavy-lift sectors.

In addition to the conference program and bustling exhibition hall, Breakbulk Americas 2011 hosted Breakbulk Education Day; the first annual Rickmers Golf Tournament, which raised $2,800 for the New Orleans Chapter of Habitat for Humanity; the Breakbulk Business Run, which brought together 40 runners for networking and charity, a certificate program in project cargo management and a heavy-lift technical workshop sponsored by Proven Logistics Solutions.

Breakbulk Americas is one of three major conferences and exhibitions organized annually by UBM Global Trade’s Breakbulk division. Breakbulk Americas will return to Houston October 9-11, 2012.

In addition to the trio of annual conferences and exhibitions, Breakbulk Events will premiere a trio of two-day congresses in 2012: Breakbulk South America in Rio de Janeiro in August 2012, Breakbulk India in Mumbai, India in November 2012, and Breakbulk Africa in Cape Town, South Africa in September 2012.

The CSS Air Freight and Ocean Freight division of CSS Group has been appointed yet again the exclusive agent to handle all the fresh fruits, garments, accessories and general merchandise from Thailand that will be retailed at the highly successful Thai Pavilion at the Dubai Global Village.

CSS Group will handle over 150 tons of fresh fruits, garments, accessories and general merchandise during the months of November to March 2012. Due to the perishable nature of the fruits, the cargo handler must be able to immediately process the documents required through various authorities during a short period of time, and offer clearance and refrigerated transport to the site at Dubai Global Village.

High & Heavy Movements From CSS

CSS is making significant progress in developing a specialist division, which handles High and Heavy RoRo/Break bulk cargo – regardless if it is single cargo or part of a project, cargo can be easily loaded on specialized vessels, stowed on high and heavy decks. Lorries, trucks, trailers, buses, excavators or over dimensional moveable machinery is the basis of the CSS global cargo movement’s door-to-door worldwide. Since this division’s inception this year we have moved hundreds of machines worldwide. Attendance At 2011 Breakbulk Europe Conference Jumps 30 Percent

Signaling a strong return to business growth, UBM Global Trade’s 6th Annual Breakbulk Europe Transportation Conference & Exhibition posted a record turnout of 4,343 attendees and 190 exhibitors, reflecting respective increases of 40 percent and 28 percent over the previous year.

Held May 17th-19th at the Antwerp Expo Centre in Antwerp, Belgium, the conference program showcased industry leaders and noted analysts over two days of discussions, which addressed the multipurpose fleet, combating the scourge of piracy, the changing emphasis on short sea shipping, infrastructure developments in India, the status of Middle East and North Africa projects, and energy generation prospects.

Ritchie Bros. Conducts Record – Breaking $57M Unreserved Dubai Auction

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, the industrial auctioneer, conducted a record-breaking auction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates last week (March 8 – 9), selling $57m of heavy equipment and trucks—the highest gross auction proceeds ever generated from a Dubai auction.

The auction also set new Dubai site records for on-site and online bidder registrations. In total, more than 800 unique bidders from 59 countries participated, competing for the 2,340 heavy equipment items and trucks sold. Buyers from outside the United Arab Emirates purchased close to 60% of the equipment in the auction ($32m worth).

Of the 2,340 heavy equipment items and trucks sold on behalf of more than 240 consignors in last week’s Dubai auction, there were 20 late model Caterpillar 777D rock trucks, which sold for a combined $15.7m to buyers from Australia, Germany and the United Arab Emirates.

Ritchie Bros. also conducted several other multi-million dollar unreserved auctions last week in Fort Worth, Texas; Toronto, ON, Canada; Saint Aubin Sur Gaillon, France; Olympia, WA, USA and Edmonton, AB, Canada.

Breakbulk Asia

Breakbulk Asia is the leading and most important gathering in Asia for companies involved in the shipping of heavy-lift, project cargo and traditional Breakbulk cargoes. It will be held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention Centre from January 24th to the 26th, 2011.

Breakbulk Houston

Te 2010 Breakbulk Americas Conference and Exhibition held in Houston in October generated nearly $5 million in local revenue, according to a report released by the Port of Houston Authority.

The conference, held Oct 11-15 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, drew more than 4000 shippers, supply-chain managers and industry experts. The conference included a leadership summit of industry executives who reviewed compliance issues and two days of program sessions and keynote speakers addressing industry issues and breaking-out forecasts.

“Breakbulk Americas Conference and Exhibition was a singular success and will return to Houston in 2012,” announced Ricky W. Kunz, Vice President, Origination.

Kunz reported that Houston was the first-time host of this two-day conference that saw record attendance of nearly 4,000 shippers, supply chain providers and industry leaders from around the world. Attendance nearly doubled the highest turnout in the event’s previous 21-year history. Breakbulk Americas 2010 generated more than $4.9 million in direct economic impact on Houston, according to a report from the Port of Houston Authority’s Economic Analysis Division. The analysis considered many factors, including hotel accommodations, transportation, food and beverage services and more during the two-day conference.

These benefits are in addition to the impact of contracts and shipping arrangements put in place as a result of the event, helping continue the leadership of the Port of Houston as the largest Breakbulk port in the U.S. and a leader in steel and project cargo for more than 90 years.

“We are delighted with the record attendance and number of exhibitors set by the conference’s debut in Houston,” said Alli McEntyre, Vice President and Publisher of Breakbulk Magazine and Events. “The Breakbulk Americas event is well-established as a must-attend event for this sector because of the business intelligence and networking opportunities it provides attendees.”

Besides forecasts for capital projects, multipurpose fleets and steel shipping, industry executives discussed important Breakbulk and project cargo issues ranging from trends in the energy market and evolving contract strategies to solutions for U.S. surface transportation project cargo restrictions and the new role of freight forwarders.

On the packed exhibition floor, exhibitors celebrated their latest achievements during the conference. The grand finale of the event was the Port Night Party hosted by the Port of Houston, which drew a crowd of more than 2,500 people at Minute Maid Park.

BreakBulk Announcement
